The FTSE UK Listed Africa Index is designed to represent the performance of African companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. Eligible securities must meet the UK's corporate governance and disclosure requirements and are required to pass one of the geographic screens (revenue from Africa, country of headquarters or country of incorporation), as well as a 60-day trading screen.
As part of London Stock Exchange Group's partnership approach with key stakeholders in Africa, many of the companies included in the index are dual-listed in local markets. The index is intended to facilitate greater international investment into African companies and has been designed to provide a foundation for index tracking funds and derivatives.
