The FTSE NSE Kenyan Shilling Government Bond Index Series, launched in partnership with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), is the world's first index to provide an independent measurement of the performance of Kenyan government bonds.
The index series includes a composite headline index and 5 sub-indices covering different maturity bands. Constituents are screened on the basis of size and liquidity and include bullet bonds, unstripped strippable bonds and zero-coupon bonds denominated in KES. Price and total return indices are available.
The indexes are suitable for benchmarking purposes and can be used as tools in the creation of financial products, such as index-linked funds and derivatives.
The index series complements the equities-based FTSE NSE Kenya Index Series which was launched in 2011. See here for more information.
