- KPMG AZSA Sustainability has licensed the data model to expand client communication on ESG in Japan
- FTSE Russell sees growing demand for ESG data and ratings
FTSE Russell today announces that its ESG Ratings data model has been selected by KPMG AZSA Sustainability Co. Ltd, a member firm of KPMG Japan, to enhance their ESG communication services with Japanese companies. FTSE Russell launched its new ESG Ratings data model, which provides underlying environmental, social and governance data on more than 4,100 companies across more than 300 indicators, in December 2016.
FTSE Russell’s ESG Ratings data model is part of a wider and extensive sustainability offering which includes the Green Revenues (LCE) data model and sustainable investment indexes such as the FTSE4Good Index Series and FTSE Russell’s ‘Smart Sustainability’ index.*
FTSE Russell has been a pioneer in the development of ESG benchmarking tools and sustainable investing, launching the FTSE4Good Index Series in 2001. FTSE4Good is a leading ESG Index Series which provides investors with a transparent and objective benchmark, including constituent companies that meet specific ESG criteria. FTSE Russell’s Green Revenues (LCE) data model, launched last year, is a ground breaking data model that tracks companies that generate green revenues, a critical component missing from current sustainability models.
Arisa Kishigami, Head of ESG, Asia-Pacific, FTSE Russell said:
“We are delighted that KPMG AZSA Sustainability has chosen FTSE Russell’s ESG Ratings data model as its primary source of ESG data in Japan. There is increased recognition that ESG factors are being integrated into assessments of companies and this is now a core focus for our clients across asset owners, asset managers, consultants and banks.”
